On Cloudmonster 1 - Flint | Black CloudTec Cushioning for Daily Wear

CloudTec Cushioning for Daily Wear

Hollow CloudTec pods compress on landing and rebound at toe-off, giving you maximum cushioning that stays responsive mile after mile. Helion foam beneath the pods absorbs impact before it reaches your joints.

On Cloudmonster 1 - Flint | Black Speedboard Propulsion Underfoot

Speedboard Propulsion Underfoot

The Speedboard plate runs the length of the shoe, storing energy on the downstroke and releasing it forward. The result is a ride that feels efficient rather than sluggish, even on slower recovery days.

On Cloudmonster 1 - Flint | Black Clean Aesthetic, Hidden Eyelets

Clean Aesthetic, Hidden Eyelets

Hidden eyelets keep the lace line flush and uncluttered, letting the flint and black palette read as a single cohesive piece. The rubber outsole completes the look while providing reliable grip on road and light mixed terrain.

Product story

Built to Absorb. Made to Last the Day.

The Cloudmonster 1 in Flint and Black is a study in restraint. The muted flint grey tones the upper while the all-black sole grounds the silhouette, creating a shoe that transitions naturally from morning runs to afternoon errands without announcing itself. It is a colorway that earns its keep through versatility rather than spectacle.

At the heart of every Cloudmonster 1 is CloudTec cushioning, On's signature system of hollow pods that compress on contact with the ground and rebound to push you forward. Helion foam absorbs the initial shock of each landing, and the Speedboard running beneath your foot converts that energy into propulsive forward motion. Together they produce the signature On sensation: soft underfoot on contact, responsive at toe-off.

This is a shoe built for the long haul of daily wear. Whether you are logging easy recovery miles, spending a full shift on your feet, or moving through a city that asks a lot of its footwear, the Cloudmonster 1 manages impact without losing energy return. The rubber outsole provides reliable grip across surfaces, and hidden eyelets keep the lace system clean and snag-free.

The Cloudmonster 1 suits runners and active people who have moved past novelty and want something that works every single day. If you appreciate understated design and expect your footwear to hold up over months of genuine use, the Flint and Black colorway delivers exactly that without compromise.

Runner notes

Why this pair keeps getting picked.

Natural feedback shaped around the fit, colorway, and ride profile of this exact product.

The most versatile shoe I have owned in years

I have been running in the Cloudmonster 1 in Flint and Black for about three months now, putting in four to five runs a week on road. The cushioning is genuinely soft on landing but the Speedboard keeps things moving so I never feel like I am slogging. The colorway goes with everything, which sounds minor but it matters when you are also wearing these to pick up groceries.

My go-to for easy and long run days

I rotate these into my training stack specifically for long slow distance and recovery runs. The CloudTec cushioning absorbs what pavement sends back on a two-hour effort, and my knees and hips feel noticeably better the next morning compared to training in firmer shoes. The fit is roomy enough in the toe box that swelling on long runs is not an issue.

Twelve-hour shifts and my feet still feel human

I switched to the Cloudmonster 1 after a colleague recommended On for long clinical shifts. The difference was immediate. By hour ten my feet are tired but not aching the way they were in my previous shoes. The Flint and Black colorway is clean enough to wear with scrubs without looking like I am trying too hard. Highly recommend for anyone in healthcare.

Exactly what my physical therapist ordered

After a partial MCL tear I needed something with serious impact protection for my return to running. My PT suggested a maximum-cushion road shoe and I landed on the Cloudmonster 1. The Helion foam is doing real work on every landing. Eight weeks back into training and my knee is responding well. The hidden eyelets are a nice detail too, keeps the shoe looking put-together.

Solid cushioning for a bigger build

At 230 pounds I have gone through a lot of running shoes that bottom out within a few months. The Cloudmonster 1 has held up well past the 150-mile mark with no signs of pod collapse. The ride is plush without being unstable, which is harder to find than it should be in this category. I would have given five stars but the break-in period for the upper took a couple of weeks.

Looks right, feels better

I picked the Flint and Black colorway because I wanted something I could wear from the gym to the subway to a coffee meeting without changing shoes. The On Cloudmonster pulls that off better than anything else I have tried. The CloudTec cushioning makes a full day of walking around New York genuinely comfortable rather than just tolerable.

A proper long run shoe that actually looks good

Most maximum cushion shoes look like orthopedic equipment. The Cloudmonster 1 in Flint and Black manages to look considered while still delivering the cushion stack I need for weekend 15 to 20 milers. The Speedboard keeps my stride efficient on the back half of long efforts when fatigue sets in. This is now a permanent fixture in my rotation.

Knees approve, wish the upper breathed a little more

I run three days a week to stay healthy and the Cloudmonster 1 has made those runs noticeably easier on my joints. The cushioning is the best I have experienced in this price range, and the shoe has kept its shape through five months of use. My only note is that the upper runs a little warm on summer morning runs, but that is a minor complaint against an otherwise excellent everyday shoe.
