Product story

Cushioned for Distance. Finished for Everything Else.

The Cloudmonster Void in Glacier and Alloy is built around contrast: a cool, near-neutral colorway on the outside and a maximally cushioned ride underneath. The Glacier upper sits alongside steely Alloy accents in a way that reads almost architectural, subdued enough to pair with streetwear but purposeful enough for a long training block.

The ride starts with the same CloudTec cushioning pods that defined the original Cloudmonster. Those hollow pods compress precisely on landing and then rebound to return energy, while the Helion superfoam midsole keeps the overall package lightweight across long efforts. An embedded Speedboard propulsion plate stiffens the forefoot just enough to encourage a natural forward roll, so the shoe never feels like it is working against you.

The Cloudmonster Void was redesigned with all-day wear in mind, and the upper details reflect that goal. A haptic mesh construction allows airflow throughout, while a perforated microfiber tongue reduces pressure points during extended wear. Rubber outsole pads are positioned for grip on both wet pavement and indoor surfaces, making this a capable choice from a rainy morning run to an afternoon spent on your feet.

This colorway is aimed at the runner who has settled on a neutral, go-with-everything shoe and does not want to compromise on performance to get it. The Glacier and Alloy combination works as well beside running shorts as it does with chinos. If you put in real mileage and want the shoe to hold up visually and mechanically over time, the Cloudmonster Void is a considered, durable answer.

Runner notes

Why this pair keeps getting picked.

Natural feedback shaped around the fit, colorway, and ride profile of this exact product.

The cushioning is genuinely different

I have put about 200 miles on these since picking them up for my fall marathon block. The CloudTec pods do exactly what On says they do: the landing is soft but the rebound is immediate enough that I never feel like I am fighting the shoe on tempo days. The Glacier colorway looks sharper in person than in the photos, especially with the Alloy accents on the eyestays.

Finally a max-cushion shoe I can wear all day

Most maximally cushioned shoes feel clunky the moment you step off the running path. These do not. I wore them through a six-mile morning run and then kept them on for a full day of errands and they held up comfortably the entire time. The haptic mesh breathes well even in the afternoon heat we get here.

Held up better than I expected

At around 230 pounds I burn through foam faster than most runners, so I was skeptical. The Cloudmonster Void has stayed responsive well past where other shoes in this category have gone flat on me. The rubber outsole pads are still in good shape at about 180 miles, and the midsole still feels like it did on day one.

Safe choice during recovery

My physical therapist recommended a high-stack road shoe while I worked back from plantar fasciitis and the Cloudmonster Void checked every box. The cushioning takes pressure off my heel on landing and the Speedboard keeps my gait from collapsing into a shuffle. Nine weeks in and I am back to 30 miles per week without any flare-ups.

12-hour shifts feel different now

I started wearing these on shift as an experiment because the cushioning specs read similarly to my dedicated nursing clogs. The comparison holds up. Twelve hours on polished hospital floors and my knees and lower back feel noticeably better than they did in my previous shoes. The Glacier color reads as clean and professional in a way most running shoes do not.

Great shoe, runs slightly warm in summer

The haptic mesh is more breathable than the upper on the original Cloudmonster, but on long Austin summer commutes I still notice some heat buildup around the midfoot. That is a minor complaint for a shoe that otherwise performs and looks this well. The Glacier and Alloy colorway earns compliments from people who have no idea what On is.

Gym and commute runner, Austin

The Speedboard makes a real difference

I was unconvinced a plate mattered in a max-cushion shoe until I wore this one back to back against a pure foam alternative. The Speedboard keeps each stride from just sinking into the midsole and gives a cleaner forward push at toe-off. My half-marathon pace has stayed consistent even at the tail end of longer long runs.

Versatile enough for any occasion

I was looking for a single shoe that could cover morning runs, weekend errands, and casual dinners without looking out of place. The Cloudmonster Void in Glacier and Alloy does that better than anything else I have tried at this price point. The minimalist branding and clean color blocking make it easy to style, and the cushioning means I am never dreading standing on my feet.
