Key features

On Cloudmonster 3 - Ivory | Ray Triple-Layer CloudTec® Cushioning

Triple-Layer CloudTec® Cushioning

Three stacked layers of hollow CloudTec® pods compress on landing and rebound with each push-off, delivering a cushioned ride that stays responsive rather than feeling like you are sinking into the shoe.

On Cloudmonster 3 - Ivory | Ray Speedboard® and Rocker Geometry

Speedboard® and Rocker Geometry

The Speedboard® propulsion plate and an enhanced rocker shape work in tandem to roll the foot forward efficiently, reducing the energy lost between landing and toe-off.

On Cloudmonster 3 - Ivory | Ray Engineered Knit Upper, Regular Fit

Engineered Knit Upper, Regular Fit

A structured knit upper wraps the foot with targeted breathability zones and holds a consistent regular fit, providing enough volume for long runs without excess movement inside the shoe.

Product story

Built for the Distance. Designed for the Moment.

The Cloudmonster 3 in Ivory | Ray arrived as the first shoe from On's LN1 collection, a project developed in partnership with Mental Athletic. The Ivory upper and Ray accent give the shoe a restrained, almost architectural look that breaks from the bolder colorways in the Cloudmonster line. It is a shoe that earns attention for what it does rather than how loud it shouts.

Under the foot, a triple-layer CloudTec® cushioning system stacks three distinct layers of hollow pods that compress on impact and snap back with each stride. Helion superfoam sits at the core of the midsole, holding its shape over long mileage while returning energy where the ride needs it most. The Speedboard® propulsion plate and enhanced rocker geometry work together to tip the runner forward, making turnover feel less like effort and more like momentum.

The Cloudmonster 3 is built for road running, long training blocks, and recovery days when you still want a shoe that moves with intent. The compressed rubber outsole grips pavement reliably across wet and dry conditions, and the engineered knit upper wraps the foot in a breathable regular fit that stays comfortable through hour two and beyond. Runners logging high weekly mileage will find the triple-layer base holds up over repeated use without turning punishing late in a run.

The Ivory | Ray colorway suits runners who want a maximum-cushion shoe that does not announce itself. It fits a wide range of wearers: those building back from injury who need reliable impact absorption, experienced marathoners rotating a fresh trainer into heavy training weeks, and everyday runners who want something that transitions from the road to the rest of the day without looking like gym equipment. The LN1 branding on the wedge and sockliner is the only signature the shoe needs.

Runner notes

Why this pair keeps getting picked.

Natural feedback shaped around the fit, colorway, and ride profile of this exact product.

The best long-run shoe I have owned in three years

I put 80 miles on these over four weeks of marathon prep and they held up without any of the breakdown I have seen in other max-cushion shoes. The CloudTec layers feel genuinely springy, not just soft, which makes a real difference at mile 18. The Ivory colorway also photographs beautifully on race day, which matters more than I expected.

Marcus Delgado

Marathon trainer, Chicago

Finally a shoe that handles 12-hour shifts and a morning run

I wear these on my off days for runs and on shift days when I know I will be on my feet for 12 hours. The cushioning holds up through both without feeling flattened by the end of the day. The regular fit of the knit upper is secure enough for running but not restrictive during long periods of standing.

Jennifer Okafor

Registered nurse, Atlanta

Got me back on the road without the usual soreness

My physical therapist suggested a maximum-cushion shoe for my return to running after a knee surgery, and the Cloudmonster 3 was the one that felt right immediately. The impact absorption is noticeable from the first step and the rocker actually helps me avoid the heel-striking pattern that aggravated my knee before. Six weeks back in and building mileage without setbacks.

Gorgeous shoe that runs a touch narrow through the toe box

I sized up a half size on the recommendation and it was the right call. The knit upper is beautifully constructed and the Ivory color is cleaner in person than in photos. The cushioning is exceptional for my easy 5-mile morning runs, though I could feel a little snugness through the toe box in the first couple of weeks before the knit broke in fully.

Sandra Kowalczyk

Casual daily runner, Minneapolis

The triple-layer cushion is genuinely different

At 230 pounds I have worn through the foam in a lot of premium trainers faster than expected. The Cloudmonster 3 has held its structure well past the 100-mile mark, which is where I usually start to feel degradation. The Speedboard gives a little propulsion that heavier runners do not always get from straight foam builds.

Darnell Freeman

Heavier runner, Dallas

Surprisingly fast feel for a max-cushion shoe

I was skeptical that a shoe this cushioned would feel quick enough for my shorter race distances, but the rocker geometry genuinely moves you forward. I wore the Ivory | Ray colorway to a local 10K and got a PR on a hilly course. The LN1 branding on the midsole is subtle enough that it reads as premium rather than busy.

Allison Park

5K and 10K racer, Seattle

The shoe I reach for every Saturday morning

I rotate three pairs of shoes through my training week and the Cloudmonster 3 has become the automatic choice for any run over 10 miles. The cushioning does not feel identical at mile 1 and mile 16, which is exactly what you want, it stays consistent. The Ivory | Ray colorway keeps its look clean even after running on wet streets.

Raymond Thibodeaux

Weekend long runner, New Orleans

Versatile enough for the whole day

I run to the T in the morning, train at lunch, and walk home in the evening, so I needed a shoe that did not look purely athletic. The Ivory | Ray is understated enough to work through all three without drawing the wrong kind of attention. The cushioning is noticeably better than my previous daily trainer and my feet feel better at the end of a long Thursday.
