Product story

Built for Distance. Designed to Last.

The Cloudmonster 2 in Seedling | White is not a standard colorway drop. POST ARCHIVE FACTION, the Seoul-based design collective known for their rigorous, construction-forward aesthetic, reworked every visual detail of this shoe. The result is a pale, organic palette that reads almost botanical, nodding to growth and forward movement without relying on the bold graphics many collaborations lean on.

Under that considered exterior, the Cloudmonster 2 carries On's most advanced cushioning package. The CloudTec pods are the largest ever fitted to this line, compressing on impact to absorb road shock and then rebounding to return energy with each stride. A reworked dual-density Helion superfoam midsole adds bounce that holds up over long miles, and the Speedboard propulsion plate underneath drives momentum through the toe-off so the ride never feels sluggish.

The Cloudmonster 2 is built for road running first, but its ride quality makes it equally at home on easy recovery days, long training blocks, or simply commuting on hard pavement. A foam insert in the forefoot adds an extra layer of impact absorption for runners who cover high weekly mileage or spend extended hours on their feet. The light, woven upper wraps the foot with a ventilation pattern that keeps airflow moving without sacrificing structure.

This shoe suits runners who want maximum cushioning without a heavy, clunky feel, and who care that the design on their feet reflects the same attention to detail as the technology inside. The limited-edition Seedling | White colorway is available in both men's and women's fits, and because stock is finite, it tends not to sit around. If the Cloudmonster 2 has been on your list, this version is the one to move on.

Why this pair keeps getting picked.

Best long-run shoe I have owned

I picked up the Cloudmonster 2 in Seedling | White for my 20-milers and the difference from my previous trainer was immediate. The cushioning absorbs so much of the concrete punishment without feeling sloppy, and I still get a real push-off at the end of each stride. I have done four runs over 18 miles in these and my feet are not wrecked the next day the way they used to be.

Finally a shoe that handles 12-hour shifts

I know this is marketed as a running shoe but I wear the Cloudmonster 2 on hospital shifts where I am on my feet from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on tile and linoleum. The CloudTec cushioning is unlike anything I have tried for all-day standing. My lower back and knees feel noticeably better at the end of the day. The Seedling colorway also looks clean enough that I get compliments, which is a bonus.

Diane Kowalski

Registered nurse, Chicago

Eased me back into running without pain

I was coming back from a stress fracture in my left foot and my physio recommended a high-cushion shoe for the return-to-run phase. The Cloudmonster 2 was the one that actually felt safe underfoot on pavement. The foam insert in the forefoot was something I noticed specifically, it takes the edge off impact in exactly the spot where my fracture was. Four months in and I am back to running five days a week.

The PAF collab makes it special

I own two other versions of the Cloudmonster and when I saw the POST ARCHIVE FACTION collaboration I bought it immediately. The Seedling | White is quieter and more considered than most limited-edition drops, which is what I liked about it. It does not scream for attention but it is clearly different. The ride is the same excellent Cloudmonster 2 experience with a design worth keeping.

Genuinely comfortable for my build

At 240 pounds, cushioning matters a lot to me and a lot of shoes that claim to be cushioned compress out fast. The Cloudmonster 2 has held up well through two months of regular running and the midsole still feels close to what it did on day one. I gave it four stars only because the toe box is slightly narrower than I would prefer at my size, but nothing I cannot live with. The cushioning and rebound are the best I have found at this weight.

Runs well, looks right in the city

The Seedling | White colorway is versatile enough that I wear these for my morning run and then keep them on for the rest of the day. The woven upper is lighter than it looks and the ventilation keeps things comfortable even on warmer mornings. I have had a lot of people ask about the collaboration design because it does not look like a typical athletic shoe, which is exactly what I was after.

Still going strong at 300 miles

I track mileage carefully and I am at 310 miles in these Cloudmonster 2s with no meaningful drop-off in cushioning feel. For a max-cushion shoe that can sometimes pack out quickly, that is impressive. I run mostly road at altitude and the energy return from the Speedboard is something I notice especially on slight inclines. These have replaced my previous daily trainer and I am already planning to buy a second pair.

Love the feel, minor sizing note

I wear a women's 8.5 and went true to size based on reviews, which worked out fine through the toe box but I felt a tiny bit of heel slip on downhills during my first few runs. After the shoe broke in around 20 miles that went away completely. The cushioning is extraordinary for someone like me who runs twice a week rather than every day, and the Seedling colorway in the women's fit looks really distinct. Worth the investment.
